PeerForward is thrilled to announce the launch of our new partnership with Prosper Appalachia and three Kentucky community colleges: Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC), Southeast Community and Technical College (SECTC), and Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC). On their website, Prosper Appalachia provides an overview of the program, which matches approximately 15 mentees to each Peer Leader. With the support of AmeriCorps stipends, our Peer Leaders help mentees get on track to graduation and connect them with career opportunities.

PeerForward’s expansion to Kentucky follows the success of our College programs in Los Angeles and Broward County, FL. Recently-released results from the first two years of our pilot program at Broward College show that mentees persist through college at significantly higher rates (71%) than their peers. We aim to build on this momentum through our Kentucky programming, which marks PeerForward in College’s first rural venture.

Students at any of our three Kentucky partner colleges are welcome to apply to be Peer Leaders in the 2022-23 year. For more information on the program and how to apply, visit Prosper Appalachia’s website.
