Our Writing Coaches and College Coaches prepare hundreds of Peer Leaders to navigate the college application process successfully. Volunteers have a real impact on the lives of youth through meaningful conversations, encouragement, and working sessions. Our Peer Leaders’ college enrollment has ranged from 60%-80%, far surpassing the national average of 52% for students in high-poverty schools, according to the National Student Clearinghouse analysis.

Writing Coach

Writing Coach plays a key role in helping Peer Leaders find their voice and craft compelling personal statements.

This role is perfect if your skill set includes: Written and verbal communication, research, editing, classroom management, project management, analysis, facilitation, or counseling.

Working with small teams of up to eight high school seniors, Writing Coaches guide students through the writing process, providing feedback and support to ensure their stories are authentic and impactful. They collaborate with fellow volunteers and consult with a Writing Coach Coordinator to refine students’ essays. Through this role, Writing Coaches empower students to present their best selves in their college applications.

College Coach plays a vital role in guiding Peer Leaders through their postsecondary planning.

This VIRTUAL role is perfect for: school counselors/psychologists, higher education administrators, educators, researchers, graduate students, social workers, project managers, lawyers, or consultants.

College Coaches provide one-on-one mentorship to up to eight high school seniors. They assist students in building comprehensive college lists, navigating admissions requirements, and identifying next steps for their senior year. With the support of a Director of College Coaching, students receive informed, choice-based recommendations that empower them to achieve their higher education goals.
