Resilience Through a Pandemic
When COVID-19 shuttered schools, PeerForward adapted rapidly — pivoting to virtual programming to ensure students didn't lose their momentum in one of the most critical years in their higher education journey.

Global Expansion Begins
PeerForward launches in Bermuda, partnering with The Berkeley Institute and CedarBridge Academy Public secondary schools and then in 2024 with Bermuda College to bring the model to a new generation of students.

College Summit Becomes PeerForward

After two decades of pioneering college access work, the organization evolves its name to to reflect a broader mission: building the next generation of leaders through peer influence. The name changed. The purpose deepened.

College Summit tests a whole-school model driven by trained teams of Peer Leaders. The students name it “PeerForward.”

RAP Director Program Launches
Co-founder Derek Canty develops the RAP Director program, training alumni to lead workshops and launching an early model that grows to 124 leaders nationwide. What began as an alumni pathway evolves into a sustainable train-the-trainer model.

Founded on the Power of Peer Influence
What began as a “light bulb” moment in a Washington, D.C. community center—working with students who had the talent to succeed but no clear path—became a movement. Built on the belief that peers are the most powerful influence in a young person’s life, J.B. Schramm, Derek Canty, and Keith Frome established College Summit and launched three summer workshops—laying the foundation for what would become PeerForward.
