Meet this week’s Forward Thinker Spotlight: Nathaly Solorio-Suarez!  Nathaly is a Peer Leader and a senior at Fremont High School in Oakland, California. We caught up with Nathaly to ask about her PeerForward journey and why she chooses to be a positive influence on others:

What’s one change you want to inspire in your school or community?

I want the rates at which my peers attend college to be higher.

Why did you choose to be a positive influence on others?

I chose to be a positive influence on my peers because I want to act as a pillar of hope for those that don’t realize they have a college opportunity.

What song, or song lyric, is your study jam?

My Surprise by Sun.

In your own words what is a Peer Leader? At school, what moments have made you feel like a Peer Leader, if any?

A Peer Leader is someone who is educated on postsecondary options and uses this knowledge to educate others that don’t have the same opportunity. I felt like a Peer Leader at school when I was able to tell my classmates about getting into college and how they can do it too.

Some responses have been edited for length and clarity.
