On June 10th, 2022, volunteers from Deloitte joined two PeerForward partner high schools for a day of mentorship and connecting with students. At Charles H Flowers High School in Maryland, 103 students and 15 volunteers came together for a Communication Matters panel and roundtable discussion. All Hallows High School in New York hosted a session as well.

During the Communication Matters panel, Deloitte volunteers advised students on the importance of non-verbal communication and gave tips for interacting with new people in different professional environments. Staff then split off into round tables, where students were able to ask questions about the presentation. Volunteers also conducted mock interviews with students and provided individualized feedback.

Deloitte Impact Day is a long-standing tradition that allows Deloitte staff to dedicate their time to a service project of their choosing. We are grateful to Deloitte volunteers for consistently choosing to engage with students at PeerForward’s partner schools. Through Impact Day sessions, students learn how to network with industry professionals and build their professional skills and confidence.

After two years of remote sessions, we were thrilled to bring Impact Day back in person. The event was a success, with 98% of volunteer respondents reporting that the event was relatable for both themselves and the students. We look forward to many more sessions to come. Thank you, Deloitte!
