On February 25, PeerForward alongside Deloitte hosted “Making the Brand,” the first of a four-part professional development series geared toward graduating Peer Leaders and young alumni.

Their first session, aptly title “Respect on Your Name” walked participants through the benefits of establishing a personal brand. In a session of more than 100 people, Deloitte volunteers produced an engaging presentation that gave students of all backgrounds a better understanding of the process it takes to build a brand.

The event began with opening words from PeerForward CEO, Gary Z. Linnen who reminded students that on their professional journey one of their most important assets is their name “and the passion you bring to the table.”

The session also marked a special celebration for PeerForward; during the call, participants heard remarks from the newest member of PeerForward’s Board of Directors, Amanda Hale.Amanda, a veteran Writing Coach, is the Managing Director of Tax at Deloitte LLP.

Deloitte volunteers began the day in breakout rooms where they guided participants through a thought-provoking discussion about what motivates them. Students, who ranged from high school seniors to graduate students engaged in new learnings about how personal branding carries resonance beyond building a career, “Don’t think of what you want to do as your passion, but as your energy. This is what energizes you to keep going.” Each student was challenged to develop an elevator pitch as a way of clarifying the message of their personal brand.

The PeerForward team is excited for the next event hosted by our friends at Deloitte. On March 25, 2021, Deloitte will host the second event in their ‘Making the Brand’ professional development series which will focus on resume writing techniques. Want to join us? You can register here
