With graduation season upon us, we at PeerForward want to take the time to celebrate some of our amazing Alumni for their postsecondary education accomplishments.

PeerForward Alumni Reionna Green is officially a first-generation HBCU college graduate! In December of 2025, Reionna earned her Bachelor of Science in Agricultural with an Animal and Pre-veterinary Science emphasis from the beautiful Alcorn State University in Mississippi. We reached out to learn more about her journey earning her degree and what role PeerForward played in her creating her postsecondary plan:

What does it mean to you to earn this degree/certification?

This degree is something I’ve wanted since I was a child. I was always the kid to pick up stray dogs, worms, and lizards. To have completed the first step in my veterinary journey means everything. Being a first-gen HBCU graduate is also an honor.

What role did PeerForward play in seeing you through your education journey?

I would have never known anything about college if it weren’t for PeerForward and my teachers. They paved the way in educating me on the importance that college played in achieving my future dreams.

What was the biggest obstacle to you obtaining your degree and how did you overcome it?

I dealt with a lot of fear and anxiety. Also, being hospitalized after experiencing a major car accident kept me out of school for some time. That set me back. Seeing my peers graduate before me took a toll. I later realized that everyone is on a different journey and on a different timeline so, even if it took a little longer, the impact stays the same. I achieved it regardless of time!

Why do you choose to serve as a PeerForward Alumni or stay connected to PeerForward?

I choose to serve as a PeerForward Alumni to inspire the next generation and make sure they know how important it is to further their education. College is a beautiful thing and a once in a lifetime experience that I would do over again again if I could .
