PeerForward was among three organizations in New York to receive NBA Foundation Grants at the top of 2023.

In a recent News 12 report, PeerForward CEO Gary Linnen explained how PeerForward’s team-based model makes it a natural fit for the NBA Foundation’s mission: “They’re basketball players. Everything is team-oriented. That’s how our model is set up: they’re teams of students that have to run campaigns, and they have to win the game.”

This round of grants focuses on youth advancement and will help more of New York’s young people pursue productive careers and fulfilling lives.

PeerForward’s team model is unique for its peer-to-peer approach to building college and career readiness in low-income communities. At our 15 New York partner schools, groups of influential junior and senior Peer Leaders run campaigns to increase the rates of college and financial aid applications.

With the NBA Foundation’s generous support, PeerForward will continue to grow our impact throughout New York City.
