In November, our Peer Leaders from Legacy Leadership High School hosted a Financial Aid Night for their entire school, and they didn’t do it alone! A team from Goldman Sachs joined to deliver a financial literacy presentation of exceptional clarity and depth.

Legacy Leadership High School’s principal, Dr. Shirley-Brown, captured the impact of the event perfectly when she said, “I learned how I should be saving money!” The accessibility of the material and the practical strategies shared underscored the importance of strengthening financial literacy across our school communities.

We want to take a moment to acknowledge some of the key individuals that contributed to making this a meaningful experience for students, families, and staff. Starting off with Allison Larman from the Goldman Sachs team. She used her expertise in savings strategies, grants, and resource navigation to provide families with grounded, actionable knowledge. Shawn Conroy from Goldman Sachs was a vital thought partner and liaison, helping our team to coordinate the event. Tim Spicer, Associate Director of Post-Secondary Success, acted as the PeerForward staff member representing our organization. The Legacy Leadership Peer Leaders contributed by initiating conversations around the cost of programs such as HVAC certifications and connecting those expenses to available financial aid pathways. The FAFSA/TAP segment of the evening was coordinated by Tiara from GoodVibes and Senior/PeerForward Advisor Bhagwandeen, whose preparation ensured accurate, timely, and personalized support for attendees. And finally, we want to give a special shout to a new member of our Leadership Committee, Jenny Schutzman Hirsch, who made the connection to Goldman Sachs after hearing a request from our Legacy Peer Leaders during the Fall Training Camp.

We are proud to see how impactful and informative the session was! Feedback from attendees shows it truly left a powerful and lasting impression. Congratulations to our Legacy Leadership Peer Leaders for the successful Financial Aid Night and thank you to everyone involved in making it happen!
