On November 7th, our Boston Peer Leaders from Dearborn STEM and Al D. Holland had the unique opportunity to attend their fall training camp at Locus Robotics, where they had the chance to learn about the exciting career opportunities that exist right in their backyard!

Upon arrival at their Fall Training Camp, our Peer Leaders were led on a tour of the Locus Robotics facilities where they interacted with robots and learned firsthand about the company’s operations and workplace culture. They spent an hour on the demo floor where robots receive quality testing before being sent out to work. Peer Leaders also explored career opportunities at Locus Robotics and discussed the many postsecondary education and career pathways available to Boston students, not limited to technology or engineering roles. The exposure to the demo floor and the Locus Robotics HQ sparked interest in our Peer Leaders and created memories that will stick with them for years to come.
Raquel Figueroa, PeerForward’s Vice President of Program, Partnerships, and Innovation, was in attendance for the Fall Training Camp. She saw firsthand the stellar treatment, resources, and information our Peer Leaders were given by the Locus Robotics team. She shared the following sentiments: “I was blown away by the sophistication and advanced technology on display at Locus Robotics. They truly rolled out the red carpet for our Boston Public School Peer Leaders and gave us a tangible, inspiring example of what the future of humans interacting with robots can look like—one filled with opportunity, innovation, and inclusion.”

Not only did Locus Robotics give our Peer Leaders an unforgettable experience, they gave PeerForward a generous in-kind donation as well! We want to give a special thanks to Daryl Tejeda, from Infrastructure Services, for showing our students around, Hayden Levinson, their Social Media Specialist, for capturing the event, and Tracy Simek, their Chief People Officer, for talking with our students and helping make the day a reality! Words cannot express the gratitude we feel towards the whole Locus Robotics team for granting our students this unbelievable opportunity and further supporting our work!
