We are proud to once again be named an NBA Foundation grantee, and to be part of a powerful network of organizations committed to unlocking economic opportunity for young people.

At PeerForward, we’ve seen it time and again — when students are trusted to lead, they rise. They don’t just guide their peers toward opportunity; they begin to see themselves differently. With the continued support of the NBA Foundation and in partnership with the Dallas Mavericks, that transformation is preparing youth for lives of leadership, purpose, and professional success.

“The NBA Foundation’s partnership is a powerful force in our mission to unlock the leadership already within young people. Together, we’re not just expanding access to economic mobility — we’re activating students who are driving change in their communities,” notes CEO Gary Z. Linnen.

This partnership is helping students build a path to the workforce — equipped with real-world skills like project management, communication, and team leadership. By planning and executing campaigns, hosting FAFSA and college application workshops, and through direct peer mentoring and coaching, they’re gaining experiences that translate directly into college and career readiness.

On March 31, that impactful work took center stage — literally. PeerForward was one of several nonprofits honored during a Dallas Mavericks halftime celebration, with Amanda Hale, Managing Director of Development, and Khi McKenney, PeerForward alum, accepting the recognition on behalf of our students, our staff, and the movement we are proud to grow.

It was more than a game moment. It was a symbol of what we see every day in our students — courage, commitment, and transformation. Because when young people realize the power they already have, they don’t just lead campaigns, they change lives, starting with their own.

To the NBA Foundation and the Dallas Mavericks — thank you. Your belief in our students fuels the belief they build in themselves. And that’s where the future begins.
