Celebrating PeerForward Alumni Graduations

Here at PeerForward, we love to cheer on our alumni as they achieve their higher education degrees and continue to lead their communities. The Class of 2022 has persisted through the challenges of the pandemic to reach their goals, and we couldn’t be prouder! Check out some of our alumni’s latest accomplishments:

 

 

 

Salomon Torres, a former Peer Leader at East Valley High School in Los Angeles, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Northridge in May. Salomon isn’t stopping there – he’s starting his Master’s this fall. Good luck to Salomon on this next journey!

 

 

 

 

 

PeerForward alumna Kiara Birch graduated from Basic Combat Training and Adelphi University this spring. She was also awarded both Soldier of the Cycle and Iron Soldier of the Cycle for her exceptional work.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jazlyn Colato, an alumna of Sylmar High School in California, graduated this year from the University of Southern California with a Master of Social Work. Alumni like Jazlyn embody the PeerForward motto of self to service.

 

 

 

 

 

 

PeerForward alumna Monique Rowell graduated from Mary Baldwin University in May, and will begin her postgraduate studies at Howard University in the fall!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heidi Castañeda, a former Peer Leader at East Valley High School, graduated as a DACA recipient from California State University Northridge with a B.A. in Social Behavioral Sciences and Sociology. Well done, Heidi!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Destiny Johntel, an alumna of Columbia High School in Columbia, South Carolina, graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with honors and a full-ride scholarship!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PeerForward alumnus Jerron Hawkins is the latest graduate of Howard University Law School! He is committed to giving back to his community as the Founder and CEO of the Reach Foundation, which provides scholarships, mentorship, and education to students in need.

 

 

 

 

 

Lauren Dennis, a former California Peer Leader, completed her MS in Business Analytics at Loyola Marymount University in May – and is on her way to work for Disney!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Francis Guevarra, an Oxon Hill High School PeerForward alumnus, graduated from Emory University with a Master of Science, Nursing.

 

Jared Mueller, a former Peer Leader at Lake Wales High School graduated from Rollins College.

 

 

 

 

 

Tyree Bell, who served on the PeerForward 2021 Alumni Support Team, celebrated both his graduation from Prince George’s Community College and the next step in his education journey, attending the University of Baltimore.

 

 

 

 

We’re not the only ones proud of the Class of 2022 – actor John Ortiz of Fast & Furious 6, Silver Linings Playbook, The Fallout, and more gave a special shoutout to Peer Leaders graduating from high school, college, and trade school this year. Watch below.
