When I turned 16, I came out to my mother. She immediately kicked me out of the house and I had to find an apartment to rent to finish high school.
My College Summit workshop was my first time away from home – imagine a girl from the Manhattan surrounded by corn fields and wild turkeys!
I became determined to go away for college. My College Coach recommended Tiffin University in Ohio because they have a great forensic psychology program, something I was passionate about. I applied there with my 1.7 GPA. I was accepted on academic probation.
I ended up graduating magnum cum laude and am currently working towards my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Marymount University.
My purpose in life is to empower people to make positive changes in their life. And that’s what College Summit is all about, and why I’m so dedicated to the organization.
